Director Kevin Smith has certainly outdone himself with this one. After seeing the previews and the cast lineup for the Cop Out movie, whether or not it would be funny was a conversation that need not be had. But for the first time this year, I must say, that the previews and trailers did this movie no justice. Without hesitation for this Cop Out movie review, I dub this Bruce Willis – Tracy Morgan movie the funniest film of the year so far… not that it’s had much competition.

Bruce Willis Tracy Morgan Movie

Cop Out, which was originally set to be titled A Couple of Dicks, opens with NYPD officers Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis) and his partner Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) as the latter comically assaults a detainee who he’s interrogating. From that point on, the humor is continuous.

Along with the comedic valor of this movie, there’s enough action, emotion, and wit to keep every member of the adult crowd entertained. Unfortunately, the language and suggestiveness are just too much for younger children, but for the adult viewer, there is never really a dull moment. It just proves to show that you can go wrong with a Bruce Willis – Tracy Morgan movie pairing.

I must say that I was slightly disappointed in the missing lines and subtle differences from the original previews, but overall this movie more than lived up to my expectations. I wouldn’t put the Cop Out film in the classic category with the Die Hard saga, but this must-see certainly gives Training Day a run for its money.
