R & B newcomer, Tydis may be a new kid on the block, but there is no doubt he’ll be around for a while. The 20 year-old cutie is signed to Jive Records via Trak Starz, one of the hottest production teams out of St. Louis.

Currently, Tydis is heating up the internet with his new single, “Make Me Say”. The upbeat tempo has more then 26 million plays and that’s only counting his Myspace page. The St. Louis native is ready to take over the charts with is unique vocal skills and one of a kind sound. The ‘can’t stop, won’t stop’ anthem should be applied to this talented singer, songwriter, designer, and actor. We had a chance to speak with Tydis regarding his new single, his love life, and a lot more.

Parlé: It’s my pleasure to talk to you.
Tydis:
Thanks for having me.

Parlé:
How does it feel to have people contacting you to do an interview?
Tydis:
I feel good about that because I get to express who I am. I want people to know me and to see that I am a down to earth person.

Parlé:
Do you feel like a celebrity?
Tydis:
I mean, I feel like yes, but I am a normal person.

Parlé:
How long have you been performing?
Tydis:
I’ve been performing since I was 15, so it’s been a long time.

Parlé:
Where did you grow up?
Tydis:
I grew up in St. Louis. It wasn’t a good area I was around some of the worst people, but I was only in that crowd for a season. It wasn’t who I wanted to be as I got older I realized that. Now I go to schools to speak to kids and I inspire them. It’s a big world, it’s not about chasing a dollar. Life is not about trying to fit in that isn’t cool. It’s cool to be outside the crowd.

Parlé:
How were you discovered?
Tydis:
I was doing shows in St Louis. I met MeMpHiTz from the Hitz Committee when I was 18 at a video shoot and I gave him my music. He contacted his people, they played one of my songs and the next thing I know I’m on a flight to New York and dancing on the table.

Parlé:
You are a performer and songwriter, correct?
Tydis:
Yes, I’m also really deep into fashion. I am starting a line. I want my line to be like Tommy Hilfiger or Gucci. I want to have everything. I’m going to call it Titus. I am an actor too, I love to act. I really started off as an actor, I was in a lot of school plays. I want to be the next Will Smith, Denzel Washington, or Tom Cruise.

Parlé:
Which do you like to do more perform or write songs?
Tydis:
I love to write, love to create music, I also love to perform because I get a chance to see people, its a wonderful thing. So I can’t choose one I love them both.

Parlé:
Do you write most of your songs or do you have co-writers that help out?
Tydis:
I write all of my music, but I don’t mind working with other writers. I feel like my music brings a different sound you have to play something different on the radio. No one is an artist anymore. You can’t pick one artist—well Lil’ Wayne is a great artist he understands who he is. Michael Jackson was a great artist, that’s why people walk around dressing like him. I am a true artist because I bring the music, the image, and character.

Parlé:
Have you written songs for other artists in the music industry, if so who and what is the title?
Tydis:
I’m preparing songs for other artists but I’m not going to say any names. I want it to be a surprise.

Parlé:
If you could write a song for anyone who would it be?
Tydis:
I would love to write for Lady Gaga that’s an artist to me. She is the new Madonna. She is very inspirational.

Parlé:
Are you currently working on your album? If so, when is the release date?
Tydis:
Yes, I stay in the studio. I’m still writing my album there is never a point where I stop write. I’m putting out singles all the time, but my album may be late 2011.

Parlé:
Are the ladies your target market or do you feel you have something for everyone?
Tydis:
Of course my target market is ladies, but my music is for everyone.

Parlé:
Have you worked with any high profile artists?
Tydis:
I’ve worked with so many I don’t want to forget anyone. I’ve worked with New Boyz, Chingy, Ludacris, Nelly. I don’t want to leave anyone out sorry if I didn’t mention a name.

Parlé:
Who would you like to work with in the future?
Tydis:
I would love to work with the Fu Fighters. Other artists, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna. I like Rihanna’s image, I’ve been following them for years. I am also a fan of Tydis. I set trends I follow myself I respect all of the artists, but what I have to bring is different.

Parlé:
I really like the song “Make Me Say” it has some sexual connotation. Were you uncomfortable making a sexually suggestive song?
Tydis:
It’s a thinker it’s doing what is supposed to do. It’s not too sexual it’s got your grown and sexy, but it’s still for the high school kids.

Parlé:
How old are you?
Tydis:
20

Parlé:
What did your mother say the first time she heard the song?
Tydis:
I ain’t play it for her yet… I’m just playing I had to cover up her ears on certain parts. My mom is very supportive of me. It’s not really sexual, it’s just about approaching a beautiful woman.

Parlé:
Did you write “Make me Say”, for someone special?
Tydis:
Yes, it’s for every girl on this planet, for that woman that’s going to make me fall in love. I don’t have that woman now, but when I find her she is going to be something special if she caught my attention. I’m not that type of person to hurt women.

Parlé:
Would you date one of your fans?
Tydis:
If that woman is respectful, nothing more amazing then a woman that is truthful, not showing half her butt just saying something intelligent. If that woman is all of that and a bag of chips, if she has her head on straight, then she has a chance. I like women who respect themselves.

I’m a good man, so I want a good woman I have to set the standard.

Parlé:
What is your type?
Tydis:
I like it all! No matter what color or race just the quality of the woman. If you want Tydis you have to be a good woman and a woman of your word.

Parlé:
Who is your celebrity crush?
Tydis:
Wow let me think. If I could it would be between Jessica Alba and Halle Berry

Parlé:
If one of our readers wanted to send you a message, what would be the best method Facebook, Twitter or Myspace?
Tydis:
They can reach me at myspace.com/tydis, facebook.com/pages/Tydis/76727355984, and Twitter.com/tydis88. I get all kinds of fan mail. I also Ustream.

Parlé:
Are you addicted to any of the online social networks like Facebook, Twitter or Myspace?
Tydis:
I’m always on Twitter every time I wake up I say something like, ‘I just took a bite off this sandwich’, I’m just joking.

Parlé:
What advice would you tell a young artist entering the game?
Tydis:
I would tell them in order to be an artist you have to have a wonderful attitude. No one likes people with their head in the clouds. Every artist that is out had to go through a struggle. I had to pay to go to the studio if you want to get notice work on the internet. I got a song on myspace with 26 million plays. It was number one for an unsigned artist for six months.

Parlé:
Is there anything you want your fans to know?
Tydis:
Well I consider all my fans friends. So, I don’t really want fans I want friends and I appreciate all of them.

Shout out to my fans, Family Tree, Trak Team, Zo, Jive Records. Shout out to my mom cause I love her to death.
