If you know anything about Gospel music, then you know that no conversation about contemporary Gospel can happen without including The Clark Sisters.  The legendary Gospel family will get their needed spotlight this Spring when Lifetime premieres their biopic.  The Clark Sisters movie is a long time coming, but better late than never.

The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel shines a light on the matriarch of the family and the force behind The Clark Sisters,  their mother Mattie Moss Clark, played by Aunjanue Ellis.

The Clark Sisters movie is being produced by Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Missy Elliott.  The film’s musical director is Donald Lawrence. Lawrence produced the last album from The Clark Sisters.

The cast is jam-packed with star-powered vocalists.  Kierra Sheard will be playing the role of her mother Karen Clark-Sheard, Christina M. Bell will be playing Twinkie Clark, Sheléa Frazier is playing Dorinda Clark-Cole, Angela Birchett will play Jacky Clark-Chisholm and actress Raven Goodwin will be playing Denise Clark-Bradford.

The movie was originally titled, You Brought the Sunshine, titled after a classic song by The Clark Sisters.

The Clark Sisters movie airs on April 11th at 8 PM ET/PT on Lifetime.
