20 year-old, East St. Louis native, Layton Greene is the first R&B artist signed to Quality Control and the singer is well deserving of her newfound recognition.  A little over a year since releasing her debut single, “Myself,” the singer is releasing her debut EP, with the backing of Quality Control and all that comes with the independent label.  Check out the Layton Greene Tell Ya Story EP below.

Greene co-wrote all of the songs on Tell Ya Story. G-Styles produced many of the tracks and served as an Executive Producer along with Pierre “P” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee.

Tell Ya Story is released via Quality Control Music/Level’D Up/Motown Records. The handwritten lyrics – seen in the background on the EP’s cover – vividly summon painful childhood memories and explain how Greene blamed herself for the chaos around her: a missing father, a mother who grappled with bipolar disorder, drug addiction and domestic abuse and ultimately abandoned her 16-year-old daughter at the behest of her new man, racial bullying, homelessness and sexual abuse.

Greene’s single, “Leave Em Alone” ft. Lil Baby, City Girls and PnB Rock introduced her to a mainstream audience on the Quality Control compilation in the Summer.

The lead single from the Layton Greene Tell Ya Story EP was “I Love You,” released back in August.  The visual features Michael Rainey Jr., from Power.

The most recent single is “Blame On Me,” which turns out to be an open book into the soul of the singer.  While the story includes elements we have sadly heard before, the storytelling ability of Layton helps the story resonate in a new way.  You can’t listen to those words and not fall in love with her.
