It seems like Remy Ma will be appearing in front of a judge again soon. The Bronx rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, was recently charged and booked for a misdemeanor assault. It was reported that she allegedly attacked Love & Hip-Hop cast member Brittney Taylor, aka Bri Taylor FKA Bri Beauty.

This drama started on April 16 when Brittney Taylor was backstage during the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert at Irving Plaza. Taylor claims that Ma came up and gave her an old fashioned punch in the right eye.  The next day Brittney posted a pic on Instagram of her black eye asking why Remy Ma had done that.  The post has since been deleted.  Since that day Ma has been ducking authorities until she turned herself in Wednesday, May 1st.

Brittney also plans to sue Remy civilly.  She previously did an interview with the NY Daily News where she explained that Remy punched her because of a misunderstanding. Taylor told the Daily News she “defended” Dejanae from an abusive man who was beating her up when they were on Spring Break in Miami. Dejanae is Remy Ma’s step daughter. “What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” she explained to the newspaper.

Remy Ma was charged with assault along with lesser charges of aggravated harassment and harassment.  She was arraigned on Wednesday May 1st. Since turning herself in, Remy Ma has seen the judge and posted a $1500 bail. Her attorney, Dawn Florio, is on the case to make sure that the worst doesn’t happen. Attorney Florio is accusing Taylor of being a liar; claiming that Remy was nursing her baby during the time of the alleged assault.

As of now, the court has ordered Remy Ma to stay away from Taylor. A temporary order of protection has been issued.  They have also given Ma a curfew of 8 pm, upped from the 11 pm curfew the rapper already had for her parole. She is expecting to appear in court May 24 according to Associated Press. Ma is trying to regain her life again after serving six years in prison for shooting her friend Makeda in 2007.  Remy Ma is still on parole until August 1, 2019, which makes this arrest a major concern for the rapper.

Remy Ma, 38, is also a regular on the show Love & Hip-Hop: New York with her husband, Papoose. The show offers a deeper look into the lives, loves, and everyday struggles of hip-hop heavy hitters and rising stars in the Big Apple as they try to make their marks in the game. In addition, Remy co-hosts the talk show State of the Culture on Revolt TV.
