With the influence of Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Remy Ma over the last several years, women in Hip-Hop have gotten a lot of attention in a male dominated field. Back when I was coming up as a young kid in the early 2000s I had the pleasure of listening to the lyrical skills of an artist like Eve, who penned hits like “Who’s That Girl” and “Gangsta Loving” just to name a few. Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Rah Digga and Trina also had beautiful records. It was pretty good to watch women in Hip-Hop prove over and over again that they wouldn’t be afraid to compete with their male peers in the rap world.

Here’s a list of 10 women in Hip-Hop that fans should look out for this year as we witness a lot of young dope Female emcees rise to stardom.

10 Women in Hip-Hop You Should Give A Listen To In 2019

10. Melii
The Harlem, New York bred emcee has really impressed fans with her ability to make hits and the great wordplay on her songs. Last year, Melii released such an impressive track titld, “Icey”.  The track created such a buzz that it forced listeners to give a closer look to her talent.  Melii can also rap in Spanish with her Dominican accent.

Melii recently appeared on Meek Mill’s “WTS (Wit The Shits)” record from his recently released Championships album. The track got a lot of love because of the tone that she set on the record.

Melii has also received acclaim for her remake of  Cardi B’s hit song, “Bodak Yellow,” which she released in late 2017. Melli got some love from the fans and even had some people say her version was better than Cardi’s. Of late, with her newfound fame, Melii has been coming with songs like “Ballin,” “HML,” “No Simple Chick,” “Bk Woe” and “Charlie’s Line.”

Melii has also dropped off her video for HML featuring A Boogie with the Hoodie as she gets ready to drop her debut album Phases.
