There’s one thing that has always gotten me through tough times, comedy. Although there are few comedians that can handle a comedy series, there are even less that can shine throughout the decades. Tracy Morgan is undeniably one of those few.

From his moments on Martin, to his irresponsible wild card character in 30 Rock, saying Tracy Morgan has been booked and busy would be a major understatement. As of late, Morgan has been putting in serious time to get his latest comedy series, The Last O.G, on the air. We are all, VERY here for all of this.

Tray (Morgan) is a Bed Stuy native who is trying to reacclimate himself after a 15-year prison stretch was cut short for good behavior. The first issue for Tray to navigate is gentrification: Coffee drinking hipsters have changed his home beyond recognition. This forces Tray to exercise some of his older methods of survival but, it doesn’t end there. Tray’s previous love interest Shay, (Tiffany Haddish) has moved on, with a well off ‘white-guy’. To add insult to injury Shay is raising Tray’s twin sons (that he didn’t know he had!!!) with her new husband.

Aside from Tracy Morgan, and the ‘Black Unicorn’ Tiffany Haddish, The Last O.G. is bringing some serious star power. The show has enlisted comedy great Cedric The Entertainer for the manager of the halfway house Morgan’s character is living in.

Executive co-producers Jordan Peele, and Saladin Patterson also bring an element of lasting and newly recognized writing and producing to the sitcom. With shows like Psych, and (my personal favorite) The Bernie Mac Show under Patterson’s belt, he is definitively a welcomed addition to the team.

This first 10 episode season is set to begin airing Tuesday April 3rd on TBS at 10:30 pm. Even though the situations in The Last O.G. will leave room for heavy dramatic creativity, there is an abundance of space to birth comedic genius. As a connoisseur of laughs, this is on track to be gold!

Here’s a first look of The Last O.G.
