Listen To The New LP From Vince Stales, Big Fish Theory

Summertime ’06 may have been one of my favorite albums of 2015 and while I had listened to Vince Staples before his debut album through mixtapes like Stolen Youth and Hell Can Wait, there was a stronger presence that could be felt in the album. It was also an ambitious project: a 20-track double album that only clocked in right under an hour. It showed that Vince isn’t here for anything drawn out and just wants to get his point across and that continued to come across when he dropped the Prima Donna EP last year and now his sophomore album Big Fish Theory has arrived and is only 36 minutes.

In those 36 minutes, however, you’ll get a taste of what Vince meant when he said he was looking for an “afro-futurism” vibe for the album. The beats feel very inspired and have a techno-futuristic feel to them, while Vince makes sure to stay topical in his bars with references to African-American struggles with cops and other avenues.
