Luther Series Returning To Television with Idris Elba
Idris Elba is returning to bless our television screens after a two year break from his award winning role as the grouchy detective on the new fifth season of Luther. The British crime drama stars Idris Elba who plays a Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) working for the Serious and Serial Crime Unit.
Since 2010 the show, as well as the actors and actresses themselves working the scenes have received several awards such as NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding television movie, mini-series or dramatic special, Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding mini-series or movie and in 2016 another Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie was received. Elba himself, is a Golden Globe winner for his role in the show.
We can expect to get a total of four new episodes of the show on BBC, and although there is no exact release date just yet, it is predicted that the mini-series should begin in the summer between the months of June and July 2018. It is also floating around that the creator of the series, Neil Cross will be set to return behind the scenes again. Cross mentions that he and Elba consistently get asked now what? Or what happened to John? Hardcore viewers of the shows don’t want to believe that it is over but as far as Cross has to say, “there’s so much we don’t know. So much unfinished business.”
Fans are gearing up and are just as excited for the return of the show as much as Elba is. In statement on USA Today he mentions, “I am thrilled that we have been able to bring it all together. I look forward to putting the coat back on.”
