SZA CTRL Album Gets Release Date

TDE is going to be off to a great start in 2017. Next up in line to release a project is R&B singer SZA. She released her first single, “Drew Barrymore,” from her upcoming debut CTRL earlier this month, and this week we learn when we will be getting the album. Prepare yourselves, because the release date is nearly two weeks away.  The SZA CTRL album will arrive on Friday, February 3rd.

In addition to that, SZA recently sta down with an interview for Billboard. The singer talked about a number of things, including how she and Rihanna got together for their track on Anti.

”She wanted to work with me, and I played some jams that I was working on for myself, and it went from there,” says SZA. “Rihanna doesn’t give a f*ck about anyone around her. She’s in her own space at all times. But she’s not rude—she’s comfortable. As a shy person, that was something cool to witness.”

It looks like we’re also going to see Rick Rubin helping out on the CTRL album. SZA briefly mentioned what it was like working with the legend.

“I had this mentality that ‘more is more’—more reverb, more background [vocals]. I played him a bunch of songs, and he would tell me, ‘The more you take away from any piece, the more room you create for everything else to be beautiful and grow.’ I never felt that before, the editing urge. Once you strip everything down, you’re forced to say something.”

Also, the newest artist on TDE, SiR, will be releasing a project, HER TOO, just one week after SZA’s debut.
