Big Sean & Jhene Aiko Share Twenty88 Album
Urban music is becoming a lot like the NBA. Let me explain. You know how LeBron took his talents to South Beach to play with his friends so he could win a championship. Well, music collaborations are becoming a way for artists to remain relevant in hopes that they share an audience/fan base and builds each individual artists’ brand. The latest duo to collab are Rapper Big Sean and singer, Jhene Aiko. The two are calling themselves Twenty88 and releasing a debut EP on Friday, April 1st.
Twenty88 follows the successful collab of Drake and Future on What A Time To Be Alive last year, and the not so successful 2 Chainz and Lil’ Wayne ColleGrove collaboration. The project is set to be released exclusively on Tidal, but will likely be available elsewhere in the coming weeks.
“[The album] tells the story of the highs and lows of a relationship, with insights into conflict, memories, love, sex and more and features production from Key Wayne, Detail and Tommy Brown,” Def Jam said in a press release.
Big Sean and Aiko shared video clips and the album cover online and detailed the project in an interview with Flaunt magazine. The name ‘Twenty88’ stems from the pairs age. Jhene and Sean are both 28 years old. Clever.
