It took 15 years for it to happen again, but Friday night on The Jimmy Fallon show, all four original members of A Tribe Called Quest reunited for a television performance of “Can I Kick it.”  Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi hit the stage backed by the legendary Roots crew.  The performance coincides with the release of the 25th anniversary deluxe edition of the group’s debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.  Here’s hoping that the Tribe release some new music soon.  Watch A Tribe Called Quest perform below…

So why did A Tribe Called Quest Break Up?  The members of the group, who originally got together while in high school began to have power struggles, particularly between members Q-Tip and Phife Dawg. They broke up in 1998 after the release of their album, The Love Movement In a documentary, directed by Michael Rapaport called, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, the members look at their relationships and recall their struggles, but up until that point they hadn’t been able to move on for the better of the group.
