The film made waves at the Sundance Film Festival and an image from the Cannes film festival recently went viral. Now, DOPE, has an official release date for theaters: June 19th. The film features several big names on the production side including Pharrell Williams, Forest Whitaker and Sean Combs. As for acting, the film features Shameik Moore, Kimberly Elise, Zoë Kravitz and A$AP Rocky. This might be the breakout film of the Summer.
In DOPE, Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself.
