Music lovers, R&B singer/songwriter Eric Bellinger released his new mixtape, Choose Up Season on October 1. He wants all his fans to know that if you’re single and like to mingle, then these tracks were written especially for you. It’s not about catching feelings and falling in love (that will come later). In short: It’s about gettin’ in where you fit in and kickin’ it together ’til the wheels fall off that thang with no strings attached. The take away is Bellinger knows that single life can oftentimes be overrated and at some point, everyone wants a partner to go through life with; but until that day comes – just choose up.

In addition to great music, Bellinger is also releasing a series of art pieces that are aligned digitally with each track on the new mixtape. He worked with a graphic designer to create the perfect visual tracklist and give his fans more than expected. Bellinger explains, “The art tells a story and offers an overview of the whole project.” Fans will see that each song has creative and themed artwork of the same monochromatic style and amatory atmosphere as the cover art.

There’s a time and place for everything and ironically Bellinger didn’t see himself being in the music industry five years ago. Although he’s been singing since he was a child, he’s a late bloomer to the industry; even though it’s in his blood. Bellinger’s grandfather, Bobby Day was a songwriter for the famous Jackson 5; with hits “Rockin’ Robin” and “Little Bitty Pretty One” under his belt. Bellinger however had different aspirations for his life. With dreams of going to the NFL; he was offered a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. He had plans to follow in Deion Sanders footsteps and was going after the title, Primetime. But that wasn’t the path he chose. Conflicted with his love of the game and his passion for music, Bellinger followed in the steps of his bloodline and chose music. With help from family friend Erika Nuri of the Writing Camp, Bellinger started with training wheels and graduated to become the talented songwriter sought out by some of today’s industry leaders. Chris Brown, Usher, Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, Brandy, Big Time Rush and many more have recorded his songs in recent years. Bellinger has his scope on working with Beyonce and Drake on future projects; he says, “Working with those two would be my ultimate goal.”

Rising to the top and living the dream can be tricky business as Bellinger is quickly discovering. A recent riff with the reigning queen of rap, Nicki Minaj didn’t leave Bellinger upset; but left him with a lesson learned. “At the end of the day, it’s about business. I think things were taken out of context and she went over the top and way too far. But I’m not holding any grudges,” says Bellinger over a dispute about production credit on Minaj’s upcoming album. What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger and since the “Anaconda” didn’t get him Bellinger lives to fight another day.

He wants to focus on strengthening his brand, writing and singing great music and giving the fans more of what they want. “Thank you for listening, I don’t take your support for granted,” says Bellinger to all his fans.
